About 30 women participated in the workshops of Social Insertion of the Municipal Immigrant Program of Molina de Segura (09/05/2017)

The ceremony of delivery of diplomas to the students of the workshops of Social Insertion of the Molina de Segura Municipal Immigrant Program, promoted by the Council of Social Welfare of the city of Molina, took place today Tuesday May 9, in the Plenary Hall municipal.

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, Councilor for Social Welfare, Angel Navarro García, Councilor for Public Safety, Fernando Miñana Hurtado, Councilor for Citizen Participation, Pedro Jesús Martínez Baños, and Councilor for Equality, Rocío Balsalobre Sánchez.

About 30 people of different nationalities have participated in the workshops of this municipal program from October 27, 2016 until its completion, on May 3, 2017, with the aim of promoting the social integration of immigrants in the municipality Of Molina de Segura.

They aim to respond to the foreign population that resides and is registered in the municipality, with difficulties of social insertion and those who come from family reunification records.

The activities of the workshops were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the Social Center of the Neighborhood Association of Fatima, former home of the priest, taught by technicians of the Department of Social Welfare , In collaboration with technicians from other councils, such as Citizen Security, as well as volunteer technicians.

Each week, a playful session has been held, which has been given through a group of five women volunteers in the municipality, who have trained in social skills skills using cooking, sewing and crafts activities:

- Cooking workshop: five sessions, in which traditional cuisine has been shown as a means of access to the labor market (domestic service).

This workshop has had an average participation of 22 people.

- Sewing workshop: five sessions, with the purpose of learning for the skill in sewing arrangements.

The workshop had an average participation of 17 people.

- Craft workshop: has been done in 4 sessions, with an average participation of 20 people.

There has also been another weekly information session with socio-educational content.

The content of the talks, a total of eleven, is oriented to socio-educational issues pertaining to the different areas of Health, Education, Social Services, Training, Employment and Culture.

The talks were aimed at information and guidance of municipal resources in different councils.

In the socio-educational aspect there is a series of training talks for the participants of the program, given by a municipal technician, where the contents to be developed are determined by the detected needs of the group.

Participants begin on topics such as self-concept, self-esteem and personal identity, with a practical and experiential methodology, with the purpose of reflecting on oneself, in order to be able to transfer this group work to family and couple relationships.

This aspect is important because of the difficulties of isolation and loneliness caused by the uprooting, generating links and social support network.

From this work it is intended the derivation and the approach to the municipal groups of social participation.

Finally, an emotional intelligence course was given by the psychologist of the Department of Social Welfare, with a total of 4 sessions, and an average participation of 25 people.

According to the municipal registry in Molina de Segura, there are a total of 9,200 foreigners in the municipality, representing 12.90% of the total population (72,600 inhabitants).

It is important to emphasize the importance of the population that registers in Molina de Segura motivated by the municipal resources and for the quality of life.

According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, "it is necessary to monitor the families reunited, and, in those cases where situations of vulnerability and / or cultural uprooting are detected, the students are added to the workshops of social insertion To emphasize the importance of the intercultural coexistence that takes place in this space, where the most representative nationalities of the participants that are currently in the workshop are: Senegal, Colombia, Morocco, Ecuador, Bolivia, Cameroon, Venezuela, Brazil, and Algeria. "
