The Department of Culture of the City of Molina de Segura, in collaboration with the councils of Youth and Tourism, has organized a program of events to commemorate the International Day of Museums 2017, which takes place on 18 May.
In this year's edition, the motto chosen by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), organism in charge of the celebration, is Museums and controversial stories: Tell the unspeakable in museums.
The program of activities, as well as the new Didactic Guide and leaflets of the Museum of the Enclave of the Wall (MUDEM), were presented at a press conference on Friday, May 12, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, and The Councilor for Culture, Pedro Jesús Martínez Baños.
The aim of the International Museum Day, promoted by ICOM, is to raise public awareness of the fact that museums are an important medium for cultural exchanges, cultural enrichment, mutual understanding, cooperation and peace Among peoples.
"History is essential to define a people. Painful and unfamiliar stories to some extent concern us, have influenced us and influence us." Museums embody the means of memory and represent those stories. Societies are complex, the segments of these societies interact, sometimes arriving at the conflict. The programmed activities already began on May 7, but will mainly take place from May 16 to 21.
Three workshops are scheduled on Sunday 7, 14 and 21 May.
They are workshops for family audiences, both in the Center of La Albarda, as well as in the Ethnological Museum Carlos Soriano of El Llano and in the Museum of the Oven of the Council.
We will work on natural medicine, Roman mosaics and cutouts respectively.
Dates, timetables and places are included in the program developed for this purpose and on the website and social networks of the City Council.
In the concerts section, two have been organized: the first on Tuesday, 16 at 8:00 pm, in the Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium, MUDEM, by the guitarist and favorite son of Molina Tomás Fernández Gil.
The second, a Jazz concert, organized by the Department of Youth, by Elena Gómez Quartet, on Friday, May 19, at 9:00 pm in the MUDEM square.
On Friday 19, coinciding with the concert, the MUDEM schedule will be extended until 23:00 in case any citizen wants to visit him.
Among the variety of activities, the book ISIDRO, by Isabel María Abellán (La Fea bourgeoisie) is also presented.
The theme of this book links in a clear way with the motto proposed for this year for the International Day of Museums, since it is about the Civil War and the Albatera concentration camp (Alicante).
This activity will also be in the Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium, on May 17, at 8:00 p.m.
A photography competition has also been called during the days 16 to 21 of May, whose theme will be the exterior and interior of the MUDEM.
The inscription is made in the museum itself and the bases are on the website of the Molina de Segura Town Hall (www.molinadesegura.es) and official social networks (on Twitter and Facebook).
At this point we must highlight the collaboration of the photographers Jesús Gómez Carrasco and Ángel García López, who have collaborated in the organization of this contest.
Another of the strongest of the programming are the THEATRALIZED VISITS.
Three are scheduled: two inside the MUDEM, on the 18th and 20th, at 18.00 hours, where the Wolf King tells us the Museum;
And another on Saturday 20, at 12.00, from the Plaza de España.
Organized in the latter case by the Department of Tourism, a character will teach the most significant places of the population.

Nor should we forget the classic Ordinary Assembly of the Association of Friends of the Carlos Soriano Museum of El Llano de Molina, which will be held on Friday, May 19th, at 8:00 pm in the same Ethnographic Museum.
On Saturday, May 20, at 17.30 hours, in the Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium, a conference is scheduled to close the Conference-Concert cycle in La Muralla in collaboration with the Pro Music Association of Molina de Segura.
It is a recital of Manuel Moyano with Pedro Valero at the piano and a concert of the Ensemble of Saxophones of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Murcia.
And, as a culmination of this week's cultural activities around the Museums, a contest for children's and young people's painting has been called for Sunday 21 May with the motto "Pintando el Museo", which will be held from 9 am to 1 pm in the Square and interior of the MUDEM.
The inscriptions will be the same day of the contest in the dependencies of the museum.

This activity has the close collaboration of painter Ángeles Mondéjar Torrano.
This Sunday, May 21, will also extend the MUDEM schedule, from 09.00 to 15.00 hours.

- From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Carlos Soriano Ethnographic Museum in El Llano de Molina, for the family audience, a Roman mosaic workshop of the Museum Visits program.

As for the DIDACTIC GUIDE OF THE MUSEUM, published for this occasion, in addition to briefly telling us the contents of the museum, includes a series of activities for Primary and Secondary Education, where teachers and students can work the contents of the visit.
"With this guide we want to reinforce the didactic character that, from the Department of Culture, we intend to give to the MUDEM.This space must be an instrument of knowledge of our cultural heritage and our history. Has been bequeathed to us, "said Councilor for Culture, Pedro Jesús Martínez Baños.
The official MUDEM brochure is designed to be delivered to visitors upon request.
In this brochure we can find a map of the museum and the description of each of the rooms.
It will serve to place the person who wants to visit it and offer a minimal introductory information.
The third booklet is simply advertising.
It will be distributed in the offices of Tourism and hotels of the Region of Murcia, within the campaign of promotion that this first year of inauguration carries out the Museum of the Enclave of the Wall (MUDEM).
These publications, along with the inclusion of a publicity report and different press announcements, are made from the Department of Culture to make the museum even more known, which has already reached the approximate figure of 12,000 visitors in its first year of operation.
