The City of Molina de Segura launches the workshop I Learn to Aging (17/05/2017)

The City Council of Molina de Segura, through the Department of Social Welfare, and within the program of activities in the centers of the elderly for the second quarter of 2017, has launched the workshop to learn Aging Aging, aimed at the elderly population 60 years of the municipality with the aim of creating a space for the elderly where they can learn to manage their emotions, and acquire strategies and tools that stimulate and improve in general their daily lives in today's society.

According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, "several studies show that the reinforcement of the functional capacities of the elderly, acting in a preventive environment, as well as the activities of encounter and participation, encourage active aging, This way a better quality of life ".

The workshop takes place in three sessions, each lasting two hours, with a participation of up to 20 people:

1st session: Learning to grow old in our current society.

What do I think about this stage of my life.

Session 2: The aging process.

Old age.

How am I?

How I feel?

3rd session: Active aging.

Where I want to go, what options do I have.

This initiative seeks to: promote healthy habits;

Providing information, training and resources for the acquisition of good habits of life;

And to promote the psychological and emotional stability of the elderly, in a way that allows them an improvement in their coping skills in their aging process.

The activity takes place in two social centers: the first workshop takes place in the Centro de Mayores del Centro Las Balsas, on May 15, 22 and 29, from 6 pm to 8 pm;

And the second in the Senior Center of the district of La Ribera, on 20 and 27 November and 11 December.

Two psychologists from the Social Services Center teach this workshop, which the Department of Social Welfare intends to take to all the centers of the elderly.

Although the workshop is designed for content and days, given the difficulty that for some supposes a closed schedule, those who wish to join the activity on any day.

WHO refers to active aging as "the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and safety in order to improve the quality of life of people as they age."

This workshop is to continue working on the objective of active and healthy aging of the population of Molina de Segura.
