The 150 boys and girls participating in the Salud 5-10 program in Molina de Segura celebrate today, Wednesday, May 31, at 16:00 hours, at CEIP Gregorio Miñano, the course party, in which attendees will enjoy a snack And water festival.
Salud 5-10 is a municipal program that carries out an important intervention in children with obesity and overweight, a pioneering research project.
Aimed at children from 5 to 10 years old, it was started in the year 2013 with the request of participation of 752 children, of whom 150 were selected randomly, with the following criteria: obesity or overweight, absence of chronic diseases and scarce or Null practice of physical exercise.
The intervention part includes an activity of 3 hours per week designed and executed by the Faculty of Sports Sciences of the University of Murcia, which has arranged 12 monitors, taking place in 4 schools in the town, as well as a promotion of adequate food, Both in children and in their families.
The research part, designed and executed by the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca, Hospital de Molina and the Foundation for Health Research and Training of the Region of Murcia (FFIS), includes radiological tests of carotid arteries and hepatic elastrografías, blood study With some hormonal determinants and anthropometric and physical fitness tests.
The program won the Sports Merit Award of the Region of Murcia and is currently in its third edition.
