The presentation of the book Confessions of a teenage psychopath, by José Antonio Jiménez-Barbero, will take place on Wednesday, June 14, at 8 pm at the Salvador García Aguilar Library (at Avenida del Chorrico, No. 44). To the author, María Pérez García, Child-Juvenile Psychiatrist at the Cieza Mental Health Center, and the Moldovan writer Paco López Mengual.
José Antonio Jiménez-Barbero was born in Barcelona in 1975, although he currently resides in Murcia.
After several years as a police officer, he obtained his doctorate in 2013 with a thesis on school violence and behavior problems in adolescents.
He is currently a professor at the University of Murcia, where he directs several lines of research related to bullying and violence among adolescents.
Based on the extensive professional and academic experience he has treasured throughout these years, his fiction works tackles the problems of youth from a crude and realistic view: (The child who did not want to cry, Confessions of a teenage psychopath, The face of madness ...).
He has also made inroads into the genre of autobiographical humor (Misfortunes of a Rookie Father), and of Terror (Dark Tales).
Synopsis
Angel Salazar is not a boy like the others.
Liar, egocentric, cruel and unscrupulous, he has built a universe to his measure that has been erected Supreme Being and in which everything lacks importance except himself.
But that is about to change.
Recused in a juvenile center after being accused of several crimes, he must face a bitter reality: in the world there are individuals more ruthless than him.
Overnight, Angel will stop being a merciless predator to become a victim, persecuted, threatened and tortured.
And when the director appears murdered leaving him as the main suspect, he must face the biggest dilemma of his life: decipher the riddle or be next on the psychopath's list.
"This is my story, my truth, naked, sincere, devoid of all remnant of hypocrisy or false modesty, you may judge me." I can almost see from here the expression of horror and disgust, the twisted gesture of repulsion and shame Cast your face as you read these lines ... Throughout the story, the author profiles with great mastery the main characteristics of an adolescent psychopathic personality, being based for this in the approaches of authors skilled in the matter, like Hervey Cleckley (The mask of the sanity), Robert Hare ( Without conscience), or the Spanish Vicente Garrido (The psychopath).
