Caritas opens a wardrobe in Molina de Segura (11/09/2017)

The Bishop of Cartagena and president of Caritas Diocesana, Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes, on Saturday blessed La Ropería de Cáritas Molina de Segura, a social project that dignifies and normalizes the use of secondhand clothes and promotes inclusive employment.

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities of the Autonomous Community, Violante Tomás;

the mayor of the City of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero;

and different members of the Consistory corporation attended the presentation of the Caritas Molina de Segura project.

The Molina de Segura Ropería is part of the textile recovery project of Caritas in the Region of Murcia, being the eighth distribution point that opens after those of Fuente Álamo, Murcia, San Javier, Torre Pacheco and the three of Cartagena.

There are 154 Parish Caritas who collect donations of clothing throughout the Diocese, which are then sent to the two garment recovery garages in Alcantarilla and Cartagena where they are cleaned and sanitized.

In the last year, Caritas Diocese of Cartagena has invested 200,706 euros in the collection, treatment and distribution of secondhand clothes, a project where 203 volunteers have participated and 456 people have participated in a situation of risk of social exclusion in the Region of Murcia.
