The Department of Education of Molina de Segura assumes the management of the Municipal Plan of Absenteeism and School Abandonment (09/10/2017)

The Department of Education of the City of Molina de Segura has assumed the management of the Municipal Plan of Absenteeism and School Abandonment, previously assigned to the Department of Social Welfare.

In this way, the City Council centralizes resources, initiatives and actions in the Department of Education.

The change took effect last September 1st.

On Friday, October 6, a first meeting was held with publicly funded educational centers that teach Secondary Education to present the work team and outline the basic axes of action.

Following the areas defined in the Regional Plans and the PRAE Program of the Ministry of Education of the Region of Murcia, without detriment to the development of the protocol established in the PRAE, in this new stage of the Municipal Absence Program is intended to prioritize the area of Prevention, with actions such as awareness-raising campaigns, training courses, working days with education professionals, etc.

The objective is to influence the early detection of situations of vulnerability and the participation of families, and to collaborate in the improvement of educational inclusion.

It is going to extend the field of action to Primary Education, not only in intervention protocols but also in preventive aspects, since it is at this stage that the principles of compulsory schooling are fixed.

In terms of resources and specific tasks, initiatives and programs are maintained and personal resources are extended for information, awareness raising and educational guidance, which include data collection tools to better understand the situation of young people of the municipality that want to continue forming.

This year, the Plan continues to rely on the resource of the Occupational Classroom, which was assigned during the 2017-2018 academic year at the IES Francisco de Goya, and located in municipal offices.

"In short, all actions are aimed at improving school success and the educational and educational offer of the students of Molina de Segura, as well as the prevention of early school leaving," explains the Councilor for Education, Fuensanta Martinez Jimenez.
