The Molina de Segura Library Network, on the occasion of the commemoration, on Tuesday, October 24, of the International Library Day, has organized a Cultural Week (October 23 to 28) with activities of all kinds focused on its different groups of users, in order to make society aware of the importance of reading, and in turn, as homage and recognition to the work of librarians and librarians.
It is already 20 years since Spain has been celebrating this day, since since 1997, the Spanish Association of Friends of Children and Youth Book proposed that day in memory of the destruction of the Sarajevo Library burned in 1992 during the Balkan War and as a way of asserting both the work of libraries and librarians, as the intermediaries between culture and society.
Each year a writer and an illustrator are responsible for drafting a proclamation and design of the poster announcing that day.
This year has been the writer Alejandro Palomas (National Prize for International Literature 2016) and illustrator Manuel Marsol (Winner of the International Illustration Award at the Fair of Bologna-SM Foundation).
As a novelty, in this edition there will be a Dinner / Encounter between users and librarians, as a prelude to this cultural week that, like other years, will feature crafts, book presentations, storytelling, chess workshops, fun and varied competitions and many more surprises .
The program of activities will be held from 23 to 28 October:
- Drawing competition The library and me: draw yourself in the library (from 5 to 11 years old).
It is necessary to collect the participation sheet in any library of the Molina de Segura Network.
Until the 6th of November.
- Scrabble competition (from 12 to ... years).
Until November 6 at the Salvador García Aguilar Library.
- TVeo contest (all ages).
Send email to sga@molinadesegura.es with photos of the contestant reading (size 2 megapixels), which will be displayed on the TV of the SGA Library.

- Contest Knowing YES takes place (all ages): bases at https://sgamolina.blogspot.com.es.

The winners in these competitions will be presented with tickets ceded by the Villa de Molina Theater.
Tuesday, October 24, at 6:30 pm, at the Salvador García Aguilar Library, storytelling The teeth of Trino Rojo, by the writer Marta Zafrilla;
and from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Pacochista Reading Center Paco El Niño (in El Llano de Molina), a craft workshop.
Wednesday, October 25, at 11.30 am, guided tour by the Salvador García Aguilar Library, with participation of students from 3rd year of Primary Education at CEIP Cervantes.
Thursday, October 26, from 6 pm to 7 pm, at the Salvador García Aguilar Library, workshops to learn how to play chess (all ages).
Friday, October 27, at 8:00 p.m., at the Salvador García Aguilar Library, presentation of the books Here we throw lots of eggs ... to the omelette and Houston, we have more than one problem, the novelist writer García de Saura .
The Molina de Segura Library Network consists of the Salvador García Aguilar Library (at Avenida del Chorrico, No. 44), the Mercedes Mendoza Library (at Cervantes Street, No. 5) and the Pacochista Reading Center Paco El Niño (in the Social Center of El Llano de Molina, located in Calle Mayor, n ° 8, of said hamlet).
