The Molina de Segura City Council signs a collaboration agreement with the CEOM Association to facilitate the training practices of people with intellectual disabilities (06/02/2018)

The act of signing the collaboration agreement between the City of Molina de Segura and the Association for the Integration of People with Intellectual Disability (CEOM) took place today, Tuesday, February 6, in the municipality of Molinense.

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of the CEOM Association, José Tomás Nicolás, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, attended.

The purpose of the agreement is to facilitate the implementation of training practices for people with intellectual disabilities in the different centers and dependencies of the Molina de Segura City Council to contribute to their labor and social integration, since, in spite of the normative recognitions in equality of rights and of the measures that are established for their attention, people with intellectual disabilities experience daily difficulties to get, find and keep work.

For this, the City will generate training spaces in its different departments and in different municipal spaces to carry out practices of the participants (CEOM users).

It is about giving continuity to the training they receive in their institution and whose ultimate goal is to promote the labor integration of people with disabilities.

CEOM is an entity that has been implementing training actions for people with intellectual disabilities, starting from the conception that these people are part of a group with a high risk of social exclusion, due to the inequality of opportunities and especially in relation to the options of incorporation into the world of work.

For the development of the agreement, CEOM must submit an annual application, at the same time that the City Council must assess the application, determining the area where the internships will be developed, the appointment of tutor, the number of available internships, the profile Professional available, etc.

All this will be included in the different documents that are annexed to the agreement, concluding an agreement of training practices, signed by both parties.

The agreement has an annual character, from its signature, being extendable up to a maximum of four years.

"The experience, in this type of actions, shows that the people / tutors of practices that participate in these actions of training practices are imbued with a life learning that only people with disabilities can give us." A mute full of affection , simplicity, honesty, and gratitude to life, "says Councilor for Social Welfare, Angel Navarro.

CEOM was established on January 31, 1990, by a group of parents of children with intellectual disabilities that began to take shape in the Pérez Urruti special education public school in Murcia.

It has 120 members, 96 users and 48 professionals.

Among its services, it has a day center, special employment center, sheltered housing, regulated training, leisure and free time, sports club, employment service with support and multisensory stimulation.
