The act is attended by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, and the Councilor for Education, Fuensanta Martínez Jiménez.

The IES Francisco de Goya de Molina de Segura has participated, with three works, in the final of the National Contest of Young Researchers of Malaga, which, summoned by the Ministry of Education, has completed thirty years in 2018.

This contest is the most important contest of Spain in its genre. Directed to young students between 15 and 20 years, seeks to awaken the research vocation facing young people to a triple challenge: explore their environment to identify any question whose explanation is unknown, documented on the subject, and propose and demonstrate empirically a solution to your problem.

This final, held at the beginning of January in the town of Mollina in Malaga, brought together 40 selected projects from all over Spain, of which eight were prepared by students from institutes in the Region, three from the Molinense center.

The students publicly exhibited their work at the INJUVE center in the town of Málaga and, finally, the jury awarded the prizes sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

The works, elaborated by students of the second year of the Bachillerato de Investigación of the IES Francisco de Goya (now studying university), consist of an investigation on the tradition of "taking the bride" in the municipality of Lorquí, a geography of poverty in the urban center of Molina de Segura and an analysis of the foundation of "neo-Darwinism" as a plague of the 21st century.

The Bachelor of Research, in which the IES Goya de Molina de Segura is a pioneer at the local and regional level, is designed to meet the demand of students with higher academic interests.

The Molinense Institute and its students have received, in the last 10 years, a total of 21 awards distributed among students, teachers and the center.

Five of these awards have been with the highest national distinction.
