The Group of Volunteers of Civil Protection of Molina de Segura, will perform a simulation of 24 hours, within its first rescue course in collapsed structures (Urban Search and Rescue, USAR) from February 10 to 18, as part of its training to be able to give a quick and coordinated response in earthquakes following the INSARAG work methodology.

Still, despite having passed some years, is in our mind the images that came to us from the Lorca earthquake.

And it is that the Region of Murcia is an area of seismic risk (as it has been proved this past morning in Molina de Segura after the earthquake of magnitude 2.6) and is that we have active failures that makes our region have to prepare for these eventualities.

This reality is not something alien to Civil Protection, for that reason we are preparing a specific training course so that their volunteers can access the unit USAR of the group and be thus, the first unit of these characteristics of the Region of Murcia that functions according to INSARAG guidelines.

This basic 45-hour course, held on two weekends, will consist of a 24-hour earthquake simulation that will be carried out in the old military barracks of the Guide in Cartagena.

Exercise that will test the logistic, activation and rapid projection capabilities of media in these incidents.

For the coordinations in matter of transmissions will give support so much educational as in the deployment of technical means, the Radio Club Errante.

Association specialized in emergency communications and nourished with qualified personnel in telecommunications and information technology.

Among the activities that seek to test and evaluate the volunteers, we find from the assembly of an operative base that allows to remain the participants up to 72 hours on the ground without external support, the initial search of victims on the surface, search with rescue dogs, response to fire events, auxiliary to other bodies in the assembly of props and assembly of structures, first aid, putting in the state of evacuation of wounded, to transmission exercises ... and other knowledge that is needed to be able to develop safely in these media.

The USAR unit of Civil Protection of Molina de Segura, is structured according INSARAG methodology, a way of working developed by the United Nations Organization, which has adopted reputable rescue teams around the world (such as the Military Emergency Unit) In order to give a coordinated and interoperable response between those of different organizations that respond to this type of incident.

This unit within Civil Protection is another example of how useful things can be built for the municipality of Molina de Segura, based on volunteer work.

Fundamental pillar of the group, which is always open to receive people who want to share their time to help, learn and train in the field of emergencies.

A light INSARAG team consists of about 20 specialized personnel in the areas of Management, Search, Rescue, Healthcare and Logistics.

The aim of this course is the creation of a light INSARAG team that can work in an organized way with medium and heavy INSARAG teams from Spain and other countries.
