The Autonomous Community finances, through the Murcia Institute of Social Action IMAS, with 140,924 euros a total of 13 places in the collective housing Escuelas Blancas, Molina de Segura.
Counselor Violante Tomás visited the center today, where she highlighted "the entrepreneurship capacity of its founders, and the advantages of this type of collaboration among the elderly, to promote self-esteem and active aging".
He explained "this is a case of success, since it started in 1996 with a small group of four elderly people who joined with the concern to live together and organize to save, create links and optimize the resources available to them."
Currently, the Shared Home Association offers a space different from any residence since they have all the necessary resources for the elderly, in a space and family environment.
The members of the community manage the common areas and are collectively responsible for activities such as shopping and cooking.
The common areas include dining room and communal kitchen, workshop spaces, leisure areas, library, computers and large appliances.
Escuelas Blancas has a blog, which acts as a link between relatives, friends and anyone interested in the project, organizes Christmas and carnival parties, and its members participate very actively in the social life of the municipality of Molina de Segura.
