The Community finances this year the care of elderly people in Molina de Segura with 1.7 million (03/04/2018)

In 2018, the Autonomous Community finances 8.3 million euros of support actions for people with disabilities, the elderly and the reconciliation of family and work life in the Region of Murcia.

Of this amount, the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS) allocates more than 1.7 million euros to the concert of seats for 163 elderly people in centers of the municipality.

The places contracted are in the residences of Our Lady of Fatima, Ballesol, Escuelas Blancas and in the day centers of Our Lady of Fatima, AFAD and the IMAS.

The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited today the improvement works of the residence of Our Lady of Fatima of this municipality, which have been subsidized with 63,000 euros from the X Solidarity program of the Declaration of Income.

"He has carried out air conditioning, exterior painting, changing doors, as well as buying furniture in common areas and dining areas, to facilitate the mobility of residents and improve their quality," said the counselor.

The trajectory of this center was recognized by the jury of the 'Prizes of the Major of the Region of Murcia' with a special mention as a group that has stood out for its work of integration of the elderly in the local area.

This center began operations on May 5, 1997. "I have known its trajectory for many years and this residence is the final consequence of much work and enthusiasm on the part of the founding institutions." The well-being of the elderly is the challenge of this team with its director at the front, Sr. Belén Pachón, a woman fully integrated with a great capacity for the direction of the service and responsibility to improve every day the quality of the benefits, both technically and humanly, "said the counselor.

The awards, which were presented last September, are a public acknowledgment to those who have distinguished themselves for their work, dedication and dedication both at the regional and local level in favor of the elderly, endowing them with greater relevance and significant value as instruments of change of the future.

Currently, more than 22,000 dependent elderly people are served by the Community between financial aid and services.
