The oven Museum Council and House of Folklore of Molina de Segura opened its doors to present the traditions molinense (10/09/2010)

From Monday 13 to Friday 17 September, from 19.00 to 21.00 hours, guided tours will take place on the occasion of his inauguration

The opening ceremony of the Museum Council Oven and Folklore House of Molina de Segura has taken place on Friday 10 September, and has received the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, the Director General of Fine Arts and Cultural Region of Murcia, Ujaldón Enrique Benitez, and the Councillor for Culture and Celebrations, Mariola Martinez Robles.

The museum was founded after the recovery and rehabilitation of older furnace of this city, located on Calle Cid, in the Castle District, a unique example of architecture of the XVII and XVIII.

The building, designed from birth to bake bread for the people of this village, and the only oven in the same until the eighteenth century, remains almost entirely original structure, made with the ancient technique of rammed earth, and the highlighting its impressive Moorish oven.

The oven was purchased in 2007 by the City of Molina de Segura for an amount of 199,000 with a grant of 110,000 euros from the Ministry of Culture.

The rehabilitation works have been executed by the forty students from the School Workshop Horno del Castillo, whose budget is 1,500,803.45 euros (EUR 1,000,803.45 through a grant from the Regional Employment Service and Training, and remaining $ 500,000 contributed by the City Council).

In addition, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the City Council molinense 238,583 euros have been invested in the project musealisation conducted by companies and Arena Biovisual SL SL

The history of this oven dates back at least to the Middle Ages, the earliest reference being found, in 1491, with the founding of the firstborn of Velez by the Catholic Monarchs.

According to the data found, oven Molina belonged to the Council and then the Marquis of Vélez.

It later passed through several hands, that kept running until the 70's of XX century.

Today, this space houses: the Council Kiln Museum, which traces the history of it, the memories of people who used it, the ancient work of Baker and the fascinating world of bread, and also the House of Folklore, who teaches traditions, music and popular dances of Molina de Segura.

The building has the following rooms:

PAN ROOM: architecture, history and stories of the oven and people are displayed in this room through various exhibition techniques.

AUDIOVISUAL ROOM: the tireless work of the baker, night after night knead his bread, is projected on the walls and the extraordinary leadership of the oven with a visual surround.

HALL OF FOLKLORE: rounds, street musicians, dances, traditions and sounds come together in this room that visitors know and enjoy the rich folklore of Molina de Segura.

LIVING WELL: the tank, a meeting of traditional houses in the garden, we met in his lap to tell a beautiful legend ...

To celebrate its opening under the theme An interactive tour molinense traditions, the city of Molina de Segura has organized guided tours of the new museum from Monday 13 to Friday 17 September, from 19.00 to 21.00.

The general schedule of visits to the museum is as follows:

Summer Hours: Saturdays and Sundays from 19.00 to 21.00.

Winter Hours: Saturdays and Sundays from 18.00 to 20.00.
