The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras Linares, accompanied by the Councillor for Health, Lola Vicente Quiles, presented this afternoon at Salamanca, the Program for Prevention of Child and Adolescent Obesity in Molina de Segura in the II National Congress The NAOS Strategy at the local level, to be held on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 November in the city charra.

This program received the June 17 first prize at the III NAOS Strategy Awards 2009 of the Ministry of Health and Social Policy in Spain as the best program of healthy eating in schools, given the imagination, the size and working ability seventeen professionals who participated in the program molinense, including family physicians, pediatricians, nutritionists, public health technicians, technicians and nurses, early childhood education, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Education, through its directorates General Public Health and Center, respectively.

Next to the Mayor and the Councillor for Health, also attended the Congress, representing the working group, Juan Francisco Menéndez (coordinator of the Center for Health Professor Jesús Marín), Fina House (pediatrician), Mario Soler (doctor), Ana Quiles ( nutritionist), Lazaro Sanchez (Head of the Department of Health) and Juan Montalban (health manager).

The aim of the Strategy for nutrition, physical activity and prevention of obesity (NAOS) is Spanish public awareness of the problem that obesity poses to health, and promote initiatives that help to adopt healthy lifestyles.

And Prevention Program for Child and Adolescent Obesity in Molina de Segura has become a clear reference.

The Second National Congress NAOS Strategy at the local level is organized by the Department of Public Health of the City of Salamanca, in collaboration with the Spanish Food Safety Agency (AESAN) and has been declared a public health concern by the Ministry of Health the Junta de Castilla y León.
