Alert on the sale of a holder for the shower that no instruction in Castilian (04/04/2011)

The Department of Consumer Affairs of the City of Molina de Segura has conducted an inspection campaign from a consumer complaint with the local Municipal Office of Consumer Information (OMIC) concerning a product known generically as bath handle shower or lacking support labeling and instruction in Castilian.

This offense is a risk to health and safety of persons.

The product, known for similar models for sale appear on TV, is shaped like a telephone receiver and adjusts to tile the bathroom without screws of any kind, that is, in principle, very easy assembly.

The system uses a double-balanced support or monoventosa windy.

According to Royal Decree 1 / 2007 of 16 November, approving the revised text of the General Law for the Protection of Consumers and Users and other complementary laws, states:

Article 18.

Labelling and presentation of goods and services.

Name and address of the producer.

Nature, composition and purpose.

Quality, quantity, grade or usual name or business, if they have.

Instructions or directions for proper use or consumption, warnings and foreseeable risks.

The product in question (double windy monoventosa) bears the label and instructions only in English, so that violates this rule.

This has motivated its preventive detention in Molina de Segura, conducted by the Department of Consumer and Local Police in a coordinated effort.

Once translated product labeling immobilized indicated in these instructions: "Note: Make sure you have read the installation tips and instructions before use."

Therefore, carries a clear risk not read the installation instructions, as recognized in English inside the container.

In some cases inspected, these assembly instructions in English and security were not even inside.

For these reasons, the actions undertaken were:

1 °.

Formalized complaint is received by a consumer product affected by this instruction lacking in Castilian, has referred to the Inspection Service of the Autonomous Community, both to perform the action they deem appropriate and, if necessary, being an imported product extra, be referred to the RAPEX alert system.

2 °.

Have inspected all the shops and wholesalers of the town and proceeded to the detention of those found, with direct and essential Local Police Molina de Segura.

3 °.

Once the proceedings raised by consumption, as local police, has been carried out for administrative development.

The total amount frozen products to the amount of 90, supports small and medium-sized media.

The number of shops have been inspected and 16 wholesalers two.

This product has been found in four bazaars and a wholesale store.

By contrast, in other bazaars found a similar product, also imported, which does comply with the law.

The Department advises consumers not to buy products in which labeling is not in Castilian and also terminated where it is selling that product.
