The jury Setenil VIII Award for Best Story Book Published in Spain 2009, meeting on 26 October, has agreed to grant the award for his book David Roas Distortions, published by Foam Pages (Madrid).
The jury, composed by Fernando Iwasaki, Antonio Parra Sanz, Manuel Diez and Gontzal Moyano, chose this work from among 64 submitted by publishers and authors from all over Spain.
Setenil Award, organized by the Culture Department of the City of Molina de Segura, an award of 12,000 euros for the winner, and also includes a reprint edition of one or several accounts of the winner.
The winning writer, David Roas (Barcelona, ​​1965) is Professor of Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Among his works include the novel bloody Celluloid (1996), the volume of daily horror stories and micro-stories (2007) and the book of humorous chronicles of a harpooner Meditations (2008).
Specialist in fantastic literature, has published several essays and anthologies on gender.
The jury Setenil VIII Award winner considers the book, distortions, which brings together 19 pieces of unequal length, "is characterized both by its freshness and agility, for the risks assumed by the author narrative, containing many memorable tales with fantasy and humor as main features. "
The award ceremony of the VIII Setenil Prize will take place on December 13, 2011, in the Plenary Hall of the City of Molina de Segura, with the assistance of award-winning author of jurors and different authorities.
Winners of previous editions of Setenil, considered one of the most important awards in the literary story national, have been Alberto Mendez, for The Blind Sunflowers, Juan Pedro Aparicio, for life in white, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Kinship poor devil, Sergi PĂ mies, if you eat a lemon without making faces, Esquivias Oscar for The Mark of Crete, Fernando Clemot, due to stagnation of the Chiado, and Francisco Lopez Serrano, by habits of chance.
