Comprehensive Center Reina Sofia in Molina de Segura ASTRADE opens new sports courts and Multisensory Room (21/02/2012)

The opening ceremony of the sports and Multisensory Room Integral Center Reina Sofia in Molina de Segura ASTRADE took place on Tuesday 21 February.

Attended by the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, the Delegate of the Government in the Region of Murcia, Joaquin Garcia Bascuñana, the Ministry of Health and Social Policy in the Region of Murcia, Maria Angeles Palacios Sánchez, President of Association Care of People with Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders in the Region of Murcia (ASTRADE), Maria Soledad Guerrero Ferre, and the Councillor for Social Welfare, Lola Vicente Quiles.

In addition, players UCAM Murcia basketball team have released the new basketball courts next to some of the young ASTRADE.

With this extension of the Comprehensive Center Reina Sofia, the 300 people who provided support ASTRADE throughout the Region will benefit from new activities and treatments.

The two new facilities complement each other very differently and many services that this center ASTRADE, FEAPS integrated partnership in Murcia.

The multisensory room is a particularly useful tool for the community to providing support for it serves to improve communication.

It stimulates the senses in a controlled environment favoring an affective and effective communication.

People with disabilities of all ages receive individualized treatment to teach them to interpret and integrate the stimuli that come through the senses.

So the room is designed to manipulate and enhance lights, smells, tactile stimulation, etc..

The living room of 12 square meters, meets the parameters of the Snoezelen room type, arising in the Netherlands and of proven effectiveness to develop stability in the senses, essential for proper motor development, cognitive and social development.

This project was made possible through the support of Caja Madrid, which has given the 19,000 euro investment.

On the other hand, the sports give the center a playground, but above all, an incentive to the practice of frequent physical exercise.

The association promotes the sport among people with autism spectrum disorders as an end in itself that reports numerous physical and social benefits.

ASTRADE aims to improve the quality of life of these people through, primarily, school integration, social and employment.

Currently provides Early Intervention and Family Support and Guidance, and subsequently, Learning support and in coordination with the School Integration Centers where the children and programs of leisure and free time.

Also up, along with 26 other entities, the Federation of Societies for Persons with Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy (FEAPS Murcia).

Comprehensive Center Reina Sofia in Molina de Segura was inaugurated in March 2011 and was built on land donated by the city of Molina de Segura to the partnership and next to the Chorrico Road (opposite Park Los Juncos).
