The City of Molina de Segura presents healthy school menus for the current 2012/2013 (11/09/2012)

The City of Molina de Segura presents healthy menus for all schools in the municipality which will be provided during the current school year 2012/2013.

The city has 27 schools with dining (8 public schools, three private schools, 5 charter schools and 11 primary schools) and they all participate voluntarily in the Obesity Prevention Program for Children and Youth Molina de Segura.

This year, as a novelty, the menus have been prepared in digital format for viewing, viewing and downloading through the website of the Municipality of Molina de Segura www.molinadesegura.es and each of the schools.

These digital formats represent a breakthrough in new technologies to enhance the information provided to parents to be able to include new and interesting content and recipes of all the dishes with their ingredients and weights and nutritional assessments.

It also provides access to this information continuously, from any location and device.

It also allows greater flexibility to make updates of seasonal food that is conveniently inform parents.

The menus presented are the result of the efforts of many health and education professionals, including pediatricians, family physicians, nutritionists, nurses, public health technicians and technical education, which, along with each school professionals have designed, developed and supervised the work.

The menus are designed with common premises, such as the daily presence of salad, casserole dish unique traditional Mediterranean diet and fruit for dessert.

Menus are 6 weeks with 30 different dishes based on vegetables, rice and pasta, which aims to educate children on proper nutrition and experiment and learn to appreciate a variety of food tastings outside the cafeteria that is going to be very difficult to know.

This year we have included first crushed menus for babies under 1 year.

This has been made possible by the consensus of the municipality pediatricians who have established some common patterns of food introduction and recommendations, the result of which has been established in a coordinated manner in all schools a special menu for children this age .

The Ministry of Health gave this program in 2009 NAOS Prize for best healthy eating program in schools in Spain.

In addition, anthropometric made in the school year 2007/2008 was awarded first prize for research at the National Congress of Pediatrics.
