The Local Police of Molina de Segura, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, held in the town a special campaign for Seat Belt and Child Restraint Systems, between 11 and 17 March.
The aim of the campaign is to monitor compliance with the use of approved restraint systems, seatbelt and SRI among vehicle occupants.
Statistics show that there are still some gaps in seat belt use, especially if you consider the relationship between ease of use and effectiveness, reducing by half the risk of death in a crash.
In 2011, 22% of users deceased car drivers not using seat belts and in urban areas the proportion rose to nearly double, to 41%.
One of the objectives of the Road Safety Strategy 2011-2020 is "to ensure that no child loses his life because it was not properly seated in a chair suitable for their weight and size."
Currently DGT data show that road traffic injuries remain the leading cause of death causes in children older than 4 years.
Councilman and Public Safety Traffic molinense Hall, Fortunato Arias City, said that "these campaigns help to improve road safety and to raise public awareness about the usefulness of the restraint systems in vehicles in any way, both short and long, urban or suburban. "
