The exhibition Bread and Bulls, the artist Miguel Garcia Carmona, organized by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Molina de Segura, was inaugurated on Thursday March 14, in the Exhibit Hall Garden (Calle Joaquin Abellán, No. 8, Molina de Segura).
The event was attended by the Councillor for Culture, Mariola Martinez Robles, and the artist himself.
The exhibition will remain open until April 13, and can be visited: in the mornings, Thursday and Friday from 11.00 to 13.00 hours, in the evenings, Tuesday through Saturday, 17:30 to 20:30, and Sunday and Monday, closed .
Miguel Garcia Carmona began his studies at the School of Arts and Crafts in Murcia.
After passing through the Academies of Fine Arts in Valencia and Rome, began exhibiting his work in 1992 in the gallery Murcia Mecca.
Pan y Toros The title is a derivation of the term Roman bread and circuses.
This phrase, as the author explains, was pronounced by the Roman poet Juvenal in the first century, "referring to the corruption of the times and what the government offered to people to avoid revolution."
That is why the artist wanted to use this parallel to explain the Spanish social situation: "The bull represents the Roman circus, at that time had the lions, while in Spain are the bullfights which have served as a distraction to people throughout history. "
His works are made of polyurethane foam, a material that swells rapidly and has achieved the impressive sculptures lightweight.
The artist describes it as "magical" as well as "hard work, because of its ease to expand."
Through this exhibition, the artist aims to lead to a reflection of time going through the society.
