The Mayor of Molina de Segura and the Minister of Public Works visit development works carried out in the Mirador del Castillo (25/03/2013)

The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras Linares, and the Minister of Public Works and Planning of the Region of Murcia, Sevilla Antonio Recio, visited, on Monday March 25, development works carried out in space Maita Public House and Mirador del Castillo, in the Castle District.

The project, written by architect Angel Cases, has been the landscaping and recovery of the medieval wall of the thirteenth century, whose canvas is twelve feet, and the tower and a grain silo seventeenth century.

This is the highest part of the Castle District, known as Mirador del Castillo, site of the old House of Maita, incorporating remnants of the medieval wall.

It has carried out the demolition of the elements without interest and estate recovery and enhancement of the archaeological remains, what makes this space into a new tourist and cultural resource for the city, as it recovered the equity and historical.

The work, carried out by the company Lorquimur, involves an investment of 678,657 euros, and have been financed to 41 percent (281,163 euros) by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, thanks to a grant program for local government design of public spaces.

59% of the investment has been funded by the City molinense.

Besides the importance of the intervention from the archaeological point of view, it also highlights the adequacy of space as a vantage point and area public stay integrating equipment that revitalizes the area.

The intervention has provided adequate treatment to the lookout with paving, landscaping and street furniture.

Archaeological recovery of the thirteenth and seventeenth

Thanks to the archaeological work in the enclave, we have identified the remains of fortress walls (XIII century) attached to the tower, which are preserved forty feet in length with a height of four meters and a section of 65 centimeters.

Furthermore, it has recovered a rectangular tower base six feet and four feet front and flank, a grain silo seventeenth century dome partially covered, about five meters outside diameter.

Finally, accessibility is resolved to Mirador from the streets that lead to the same ramps based implementation which aims to recall the original incoming and outgoing natural headland.
