Molina de Segura Book Celebrates Spring 2013 April 23 to May 17 (22/04/2013)

The program of activities was presented at a press conference Monday April 22, along with the foundations of X Prize Best Book Setenil Stories Published in Spain, the jury shall consist of the same members as in the first edition

The basis of the X Prize Best Book Setenil Stories Published in Spain and the program of activities of the Spring 2013 Book of Molina de Segura, scheduled by the Department of Culture of the City of Molina de Segura, were presented at a press conference Monday April 22, by the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, and the Councillor for Culture, Mariola Martinez Robles.

Setenil Award for Best Book of Short Stories Published in Spain, worth 10,000 euros for the winner, is one of the few awards of its kind in Spain and has among its objectives to strengthen the recognition of the story as a literary genre in our country.

This year marks the tenth edition, which shows the strength of an award that has achieved great prestige throughout Spain and is the most desired among the authors and publishers of the genre.

To mark the tenth anniversary, the jury shall consist of the same members as in the first edition of 2004.

The writer Juan Manuel de Prada, Professor at the University of Murcia Ana Luisa Baquero Escudero and teacher and literary critic Ramón Jiménez Madrid will be in charge of choosing between different entries.

The Department of Culture of the Municipality of Molina de Segura, in order to help strengthen the recognition of the story as a literary genre in our country, announces the X PRIZE SETENIL 2013, aimed at rewarding the best book of short stories published in Spain in the period referred to the call, according to the following

BASES

I.

May attend the X PRIZE SETENIL storybooks in that the following features:

Books must have been published between the dates of April 23, 2012 (Book Day) and April 22, 2013, meaning that at date of publication is complete book production process (printing and binding).

It must be copyright story collections unique and Spanish nationality.

While it may have been originally published in either of the official languages ​​of the Spanish State, shall be submitted to this contest the Spanish-language edition.

In the case of works originally written in other languages ​​other than Castilian state, date to be considered will be the publication of the translated work.

The decision on what is or is not a "story book" refers only to the jury.

May not participate books that previous reissues, or anthologies of stories already published in book form.

However, when the stories accepted collections have appeared only in periodicals.

II.

May submit books vying for the prize both editors directly, as any natural or legal person, enclosing:

Two copies of each of the books presented, that once the process will become property of the City of Molina de Segura funds to enrich its Municipal Library Network.

A statement signed by the sender in which is stated: that the book production process is completed within the dates specified in paragraph I, and the author is Spanish.

III.

Proposals must be submitted to the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Molina de Segura, Building The Catch, c / Mayor, 81, 30500 Molina de Segura, with the words "Setenil Award".

IV.

The deadline for submission of copies will end on June 30, 2013.

V.

It establishes a single, indivisible prize amounting to $ 10,000 for the winning author.

The prize can not be awarded.

VI.

The City of Molina de Segura edited a reprint containing a sample of the winning-whether one or more accounts, or fragment-, and will be distributed on a non venal between publishers, critics, writers, universities and other related institutions with the book across the country.

VII.

The decision procedure is as follows:

A screening committee will select a maximum of 10 books finalists from all the entries.

The senders of the selected works must submit two additional copies to the organization.

A jury appointed by the Department of Culture, and composed of key figures in the world of letters that have special relationship with the genre of the story, will meet in October 2013 to give judgment, they will contact the winning author and the publisher.

VIII.

The award will be presented at a public ceremony to be held in Molina de Segura in December 2013, with the assistance of jurors, and be preceded by a meeting with readers.

Will the presence of the author inexcusable for the prize awarded is cleared.

IX.

Any subsequent reissue of the winning work will reference written to read "X Prize Setenil 2013. Municipality of Molina de Segura".
