Setenil Award for Best Book of Short Stories Published in Spain, organized by the Culture Department of the City of Molina de Segura, has become the main reference award in our country in the genre of the story.
This is demonstrated by the large participation from publishers and authors from all over the country, having been presented to this 10th edition 62 titles.
The prize is worth $ 10,000 for the winning author.
To commemorate the 10th birthday of the prize jury has met the first edition, which awarded The Blind Sunflowers by Alberto Mendez.
It is chaired by writer Juan Manuel de Prada and act as members Ana Luisa Baquero Escudero, Professor of Literature at the University of Murcia, Ramón Jiménez Madrid, professor of literature and literary critic in the newspaper La Opinión.
It is expected that the jury has reached its decision in November.
The award will be presented in Molina de Segura in December 2013.
The winners of previous editions Setenil Award were: Alberto Mendez, by The Blind Sunflowers, Juan Pedro Aparicio, for life in white; Cristina Fernández Cubas, Kinship poor devil, Sergi PÃ mies by If you eat a lemon without grimaces, Oscar Esquivias by Brand Crete; Fernando Clemot by Chiado Tobacconists, Francisco Lopez Serrano, by habits of chance, David Roas, for Distortions, and Clara Obliged, with the wrong travel book.
The juries were chaired respectively by Juan Manuel de Prada, Luis Mateo Díez, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, Ana Maria Matute, José María Merino, Javier Tomeo, Andrés Neuman, Fernando Iwasaki, and Cristina Fernández Cubas.
