The opening ceremony of the works of widening of the road RM/A5 in Molina de Segura was held Monday July 29, at kilometer road 9,600 RM/A5 Molina / Fortuna.
Attended by the President of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, the Director of Public Works and Planning of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Sevilla Recio, and Mayor of Fortuna, Catherine Smith.
It is a performance about four miles in length between the points 7.2 to 11.2 kilometers of road, including the widening of the road, through the construction of a platform with a total of 25 meters wide, with two lanes in each direction of 3.25 meters.
The work has been executed by the company Ferrovial, with an investment of 4,118,848 euros, financed by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the Ministry of Public Works and Territory Management.
The new road has bike path parallel to the four kilometers of the performance and a drainage system to ensure adequate conditions of circulation in case of rain.
It has also installed a new lighting system for better visibility at night, and has been renewed signage and markings.
Finally, barriers are installed to protect motorists in order to minimize injuries in case of accidents.
This road connects residents to the north of Molina de Segura with the A30 motorway, serving the residents of La Alcayna, Rabbits, Los Olivos, La Quinta, El Pino and El Romeral.
Improving road safety in access to these population centers of Molina de Segura through roundabouts on its way, and provides a quick and convenient transit to all drivers, as it happened to have two lanes (one in each direction) to have four (two in each direction).
For her pass about 13,018 vehicles a day (which is considered high intensity stretch of road).
This action is part of the Collaboration Protocol between the City of Molina de Segura and the Ministry of Public Works and Planning for the execution of the works of widening of the road that connects A5 Molina de Segura and Fortuna (from its origin in the town of Molina de Segura to the intersection of La Alcayna) signed in July 2007.
It joins two included in the project and already completed:
ROUNDABOUT ON THE LINK OUTPUT N ° 381 OF STATE HIGHWAY A30 (Albacete / CARTAGENA) REGIONAL ROAD WITH A5 (MOLINA DE SEGURA / FORTUNA), whose works already completed five years years ago.
It is a large roundabout on the link road both in order to improve traffic flow and road safety, since it was one of the most contentious crosses the area.
These works belonged to the Ministry of Development.
FITNESS PROJECT A5 ROAD TO URBAN ENVIRONMENT MOLINA DE SEGURA (MELLADO GUTIERREZ AVENUE), whose works already completed four years ago.
Performance on two kilometers of road at its entrance to Molina de Segura, which includes the widening of the road crossings management with gazebos, sidings implement and complete renovation of sidewalks, vegetation and lighting.
These works were executed by the City of Molina de Segura, with an investment of EUR 2,887,528.91.
