The Local Public Safety Board of Molina de Segura makes a positive assessment of Operation Trails II from its inception in May (31/07/2013)

The Mayor and Deputy Government in the Region of Murcia have chaired, on Wednesday July 31, the meeting and highlighted the low crime rate in the city, the result of the unique collaboration between local police and National Police

The Local Public Safety Board of Molina de Segura held a meeting Wednesday July 31, at the local council, chaired by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras Linares, and the Government Delegate in the Autonomous Community Region of Murcia, Joaquín García Bascuñana.

The Board also attended by the Councillor for Public Safety, Fortunato Arias City, the representative of the Emergency Department of the Region of Murcia, Alfonso Ayuso, the Chief Executive of the National Police, Duran Cyril Beachcomber, the Deputy Chief Local Police, José Pérez Almagro, the Chief Inspector of the National Police Station in Molina de Segura, Antonio Sanchez Barnabas, the Civil Guard sergeant in Molina de Segura, Oscar Martínez García, Secretary General of the City, Mary Dolores Martín-Gil Garcia, the General Administration Technical Hall, Francisco José Medina Ibanez, the Municipal Socialist Group spokesman, Antonio Gomaríz Pastor, Speaker of the Municipal Group of Izquierda Unida / The Greens, Antonio López Vidal, the Spokesman of the Group Municipal UPyD, Encarnacion Hernandez Rodriguez, and the representative of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations Interbarrios, Juan José Pineda Martinez.

The Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras, stated that, "with objective data on the table, I can say that Molina de Segura is one of the safest cities in Spain, as the crime rate stood at 2.6 per 1,000 inhabitants, compared to a national rate of 4.6 per 1,000 inhabitants. These figures are the result of the exceptional collaboration and coordination between the National Police and the local police in our town ".

For its part the Government Delegate, Joaquín Bascuñana has provided data on the development of Operation Trails II, launched on 17 May.

This is one part of a prevention and patrol device which aims to strengthen the monitoring and control of garden paths and avoid basically theft seasonal fruit crops, while safety is improved opinion of the citizens and increases the presence of uniformed police units.

To date, there have been 476 selective controls by local police officers and National Police, with the identification of 765 people and 338 vehicles.

In addition, a total of 60 people were arrested, 23 of them for criminal offenses, 13 for violation of the Immigration Act and 21 legal requisitions.
