The City of Molina de Segura will implement permanent and other temporary measures during the European Mobility Week, which this year was held in the town from 16 to 22 September.
These measures have been presented at a press conference on Wednesday September 11, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras Linares, and the Councillor for Mobility, Consuelo Rosauro Meseguer.
With the aim of achieving cleaner air for all, the issue of European Mobility Week 2013 is Move for cleaner air!, Inviting citizens to reflect on the impact that transport has on the quality of urban air.
Among the interim measures include: cutting and pedestrian traffic in Station Street, from Professor Street to Calle Joaquin Abellán Sculptor Gil Riquelme, urban transport free service, and 25% off the price of public car parks in the municipality (Parking Company, The Milling Parking and Parking The Wall).
Within the permanent measures presented the draft cyclable streets, and placement of bicycle parking in different areas of the municipality.
As pointed out by the Mayor, Eduardo Contreras, "change our transportation habits may be a long way that is intended to stop urban air pollution, but we must walk that road to improve the quality of air we breathe."
For his part, Councillor for Mobility, Consuelo Rosauro, stressed that, "the City Council want the public to participate and enjoy these initiatives, reminding us that we all have a role to play, and that small changes, such as cycling instead of taking the car, opt for public transport, or the choice of walking can improve our quality of life. "
