Inaugurated the emergency works on a section of the Northwest Greenway in Molina de Segura (12/11/2013)

The opening ceremony of the section of emergency works carried out in the Natural Way Northwest Greenway as it passes through Molina de Segura has taken place today, Tuesday November 12, by the Red Cross headquarters in Molina de Segura.

Attended by the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, the Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Bascuñana Joaquín García, and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Pedro Alberto Cruz Sánchez.

As a result of torrential rains in September 2012, the Northwest Greenway in the urban section of Molina de Segura, was badly damaged, so the Greenways Consortium of the Region of Murcia requested the Ministry of Agriculture , Food and Environment, a performance for the settlement thereof.

The emergency work involves an investment of 236,000 euros, which was financed entirely by the General Directorate of Rural Development and Forestry Policy, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.

The performances are mainly located in the stretch of road that runs parallel to Avenida Industry and Calle Cuesta del Puente.

At that moment there was the collapse of the pathway and the mismatch of the wooden balustrade.

The solution adopted for the reconstruction of the road has been the implementation of a retaining wall gabion base heights between 2 and 4 meters along the length of the embankment.

He also proceeded to the construction of drainage works by rainwater collection protections based on concrete to prevent further erosion, as well as reconstruction of the balustrade.

On the other hand, has spare double treatment area asphalt lifted after the passage of water through concrete.

Furthermore, in the area between the Campus and Molina de Segura Espinardo have repaired about 3,000 meters of ditches, removing the material from the slopes drag mechanically and has protected a small slope affected by gullies in the most next to campus.

The ministry commissioned this way, in its section Murcia - Baños de Mula in late 2011 as part of the Natural Pathways current Rural Development Department and Forestry Policy.

The performance included the recovery of the old railway line, linking Murcia and Caravaca.

The commissioning party in 2011 had a length of 29.7 km., And linking with another stretch of road linking Baños de Mula and Caravaca de la Cruz, 50 km.

The work was sponsored by the Tourist Consortium of the Northwest Greenway of the Region of Murcia, agency responsible for their maintenance, and was financed and directed by the ministry, with an investment of EUR 1,175,281.64.
