Molina de Segura celebrates World Wetlands Day (30/01/2014)

On the occasion of the commemoration of WORLD WETLANDS DAY, which takes place on Sunday February 2, the City of Molina de Segura, along with the Directorate General Environment of the Region of Murcia, the global campaign adds the Ramsar Convention and the FAO Wetlands and Agriculture: together for growth, to raise awareness of the importance of wetland conservation and especially wetlands declared Ramsar site.

Molina de Segura account since 2011 with a wetland of international importance (Ramsar site) wetland Campotéjar Lagoons, second in importance by the presence of waterfowl, after the Mar Menor lagoon.

Currently the Ministry of Presidency and the city of Molina de Segura are developing the project LIFE09/NAT/ES/000516 Oxyura leucocephala conservation in the Region of Murcia, Spain, funded by the European Commission, which is basically the enhancement of headed duck (Oxyura leucocephala), a water bird in danger of extinction worldwide, which nests from ten years ago and lives in the wetland Campotéjar Lagoons.
