UPyD Molina calls "disproportionate" the fee for garbage collection to retail and hospitality, and requests an audit of the service cost (27/03/2014)

UPyD spokeswoman in the city of Molina de Segura, embodies Hernandez, has announced that its Municipal Group to take full next Monday a proposal for an audit of the costs of waste collection service in the city is done, for, where appropriate, "take appropriate steps to bring the rates".

The proposal comes in the wake, as explained Hernandez, a comparative review of policy formation rates and hotel trade in the four major cities of the Region study which shows that the rate for garbage collection applied to molinense business is substantially higher than that of Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca.

"In addition to disproportionate," says Hernandez, "the rate applied under our ordinance does not serves criteria that may make it more progressive, which do provide other ordinances of different locations, including criteria such as the number of local employees , square meters, or location. "

Thus, a restaurant in Molina de Segura (regardless of number of employees, location or square meters) pay 572 euros every two months by garbage collection while in Murcia pay 99 euros if you only has 5 employees or 494 euros if more than 20 workers, in Cartagena 191 without passing the 100 square meters of premises; Lorca and 86 euros if you are located in first class qualified streets.

Commercial premises, such as a shoe, pay at Molina 79.41 euros, while in Murcia pay 59.20; 54 in Cartagena, 74, and 52 euros in Lorca.

The pubs, meanwhile, paid 250 euros every two months, which is 52 euros more than in Murcia, and 59 more than in Cartagena.

For Hernandez, these rates represent "a heavy burden" to a sector that the crisis has been down most of its sales.

"The best way to show that since the City Council is supporting the small business and the local hospitality industry is making an effort to reduce this excessive tax burden."

"Otherwise," he says, "we are being complicit in the continued closure of businesses, many others can not make ends meet, or that an entrepreneur does not arise locate your business in our town."

Finally, the spokesman stated that "we must ask why it is so expensive pick up trash in our town, if the amount of the fee, as the law says, can not in any case exceed the cost of the service, and other municipalities may meet these costs giving equal service and a smaller than ours "fare.
