The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras Linares, attended, on Thursday 16 October, in Brussels, the official signing ceremony of accession of the City of Molina de Segura Adapt Mayors The Covenant of Mayors Initiative on Adaptation to Change Climate, put in place by DG Climate Action of the European Commission in March 2014.
Molina de Segura is one of 53 municipalities across Europe to approve its accession.
This approval came with the unanimous support of all local groups to the motion at the last regular plenary session on 29 September.
Adapt Mayors The Covenant of Mayors Initiative on Adaptation to Climate Change (http://www.pactoalcaldesregmurcia.es/noticias/alcaldes-by-the-adaptaci%C3%B3n) was launched under the Covenant of Mayors, the European initiative which is the flagship in the adoption by the cities of measures in mitigating climate change and the molinense City Council joined in February 2011 Adapt Mayors The Covenant of Mayors Adaptation Initiative to Climate Change provides a framework for local authorities to take action in this adaptation process.
In addition to approving the accession to this initiative, the Municipal Corporation is committed to developing a comprehensive strategy of local adaptation to the town of Molina de Segura.
