The City of Molina de Segura has been chosen as a runner for Best awareness campaign of Public Administration, in the second edition of the Awards for innovative R recycling and sustainability initiatives 2014, convened by ECOEMBES.
The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday November 20, at the College of Architects of Madrid, COAM, at 19.00.
The award will be collected by the Councillor for Environment of the City of Molina de Segura Juana Carrillo Muñoz.
The award, SEPARATE AND WIN campaign was developed in 2013 by the Department of Environment under the Program for Communication, Information and Environmental Education on the separate collection of waste.
This promotion with their slogan Look what you separate and see what you get !, intended to reward citizens who successfully separated in recognition of their efforts to improve separate collection in the town, thank them for their cooperation and increase their awareness.
The campaign was basically that people identify themselves with their data each bag designed to yellow container through which labels with adhesive along with an information leaflet was distributed to 25,000 households.
Once the bags arrived at the sorting plant is checked if the content was correct.
The bags that met this requirement, participated in a raffle in which a total of 51 awards were handed out.
All bags deposited over 2,000 containers were tested, and a total of 1,500 tags, which identified the bags containing only waste to be deposited in the yellow container is selected, although the total was greater bags identified.
This campaign has been a significant reduction in the percentage of unfit (wrongly materials deposited in the yellow container).
In 2012, Molina de Segura had improper 30.2%, while in 2013 was reduced to 25.8%.
He has also been an example of collaboration and involvement of various organizations, companies and institutions.
The campaign, sponsored by the Department of Environment of the City molinense and developed based on the agreement between ECOEMBES and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the Ministry of the Presidency, has enjoyed the support of the Department of Commerce The company Sercomosa, the Consortium for Urban Waste Management in the Region of Murcia, the UTE Cetrasa, which manages the Waste Treatment Plant Ulea, the Association of Business and Professional Molina (COM-PRO) with more than 150 retail partners, Eroski, other companies, such as plastics Romero, and shops sponsors of the awards.
As explained by the Councillor for the Environment, Juana Carrillo, "citizens have been able to check the path of the packages from being deposited in the yellow container. With this, it has managed to strengthen the credibility of the operation of the Integrated Management System and recovering confidence, showing that our efforts in waste separation does not fall on deaf ears. "
