Molina de Segura commemorates the 250th anniversary of the inauguration of the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption.. (23/02/2015)

The program of activities organized to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the inauguration of the Church of Our. Sra. De la Asunción de Molina de Segura has been presented at a press conference on Monday 23 February, in the Press City Hall.

Attended by the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, Councillor of Culture and Tourism, Worship Molina López, and the pastor of the Church of Our. Sra. De la Asunción, Ramón Gil Jara.

The program of activities is as follows:

- Publication of a prospectus that will collect all events planned.

- Memorial Procession of the 250th anniversary of the inauguration of the Church of the Assumption, on Saturday February 28, 2015, at 18.30, organized by the Superior Council of Guilds Pasionarias of Molina de Segura, with images of the four holders Easter brotherhoods molinense.

- Creation of logo for the celebration of the commemoration.

- Publication of the book The Church of the Assumption of Molina de Segura.

Politics, Society, Economy and Religion, Juan de Dios Hernández Miñano, on April 30, 2015.

- Exposure silversmith 1 to October 31.

- Concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, directed by Virginia Martinez, starring Pilar and Pedro Valero and participation of coral Hims Mola, on November 27, 2015, at the Teatro Villa de Molina.

- Placement of a plaque commemorating the event closest to the celebration of the anniversary days.

The dates of the inauguration were from 30 November 1765 to 8 December the same year.

- Patron Program this year 2015 will also make reference to the commemoration.

- Other religious acts proposed by the Parish, yet to be confirmed: possible pilgrimage to Rome or guided visits to the Church.

This year 2015, the Church of Our. Sra. De la Asunción de Molina de Segura fulfills two hundred fiftieth anniversary of his inauguration.

This is the most important and significant historical monument of the population, which has seen local developments since the mid-eighteenth century to today.

The present church of the Assumption, replaced in their day to an older located near the fortress, at the top of the Castle District, built as was customary on Muslim mosque.

The start of construction took place in 1746. 1,272 square meters outside the old city walls were enabled.

This new space the new church and the square was located.

The name of the architect or tracista is not known but it is known that the master mason was Francisco Coronado.

All residents contributed their labor and were authorized by ecclesiastical authority to work on Sundays and holidays solemn.

Were only hired those skilled trades such as masons, foremen, carpenters and blacksmiths.

At a cost of 100,000 reales and 19 years of work the church is finished.

Within its walls is collected, according to tradition, a finger relic of St. Vincent Martyr, patron of Molina de Segura.

You can also look inside images molinense sculptor Bernabé Gil, who was awarded in the 40's and 50 nationally with individual awards housed.

The image of the head of the church, Our Lady of the Assumption, is his work.

It also houses a processional custody of 1792 made at the expense of the Brotherhood of Souls and Blessed Sacrament.

Its author was the famous silversmith and Neapolitan artist Carlos Zaradatti.

This piece is declared of Cultural Interest.

Are equally interesting paintings of the four evangelists of the pendentives of the cupola to be the time of the inauguration, as well as the flagship of the dome, the artist Joseph Navarro.

1943 is your perspective painted work of famous painters Luis Garay and Carlos Rodríguez altarpiece.

In 1948, Muñoz Barberán painted figures of the dome representing the triumph of the Eucharist.

The church is decorated in 1950 under the direction of the Valencian painter José Martínez, who also renovated respecting the original altarpiece top of Garay and Carlos Rodriguez.

The Cabinet gives the March 2, 1983 the title of Historic Artistic Monument.
