The Ministry of Culture will invest 100,000 euros for completion of the Enclave Museum Wall of Molina de Segura (30/11/2015)

The Autonomous Community of Murcia, through the Ministry of Culture and Spokesperson, has included in its budget for next year 2016 a party of 100,000 euros for the Enclave Wall Museum (MUDEM) of Molina de Segura.

This new cultural center will open in 2016 with a length of 125 meters from the Islamic wall, declared of Cultural Interest (BIC) for Culture, as the main attraction.

The Minister of Culture, Noelia Arroyo Hernandez, and the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, visited, on Monday 30 November, the works of this new museum space that is complemented by the Municipal Historical Archive, next to it, Culture and whose creation has contributed more than 6.2 million since 2006. In 2018, the final amount would rise to 6.8 million.

Also visited the Municipal Archives, located in the basement of the Centre The Garden, and have held a working meeting in the office of Mayor of the City molinense.

Noelia Arroyo has declared that "it is a duty of government to ensure the conservation of our heritage so that citizens can enjoy it and we can all better understand our own history and rich heritage we have received from the people who inhabited the region. The case the walls of Molina de Segura is also a perfect example, as it has joined in a project protecting historical heritage and creating a new exhibition and cultural space, and other spaces used for historical research " .

The medieval remains were discovered when it was going to build a housing development.

In particular, it was an Islamic wall in the north of Molina de Segura, located in the basement of an old factory of canned vegetables.

125 meters of wall-six towers, one of nine sides which is the only known example of the peninsula were recovered.

Of particular relevance it is also a door in elbow and maintenance trench.

Given the importance and the condition of the walled complex, the Autonomous Community and the City agreed to recover and museumization the archaeological site with a project to preserve the wall and create an interpretive center.

Also, there will be new spaces for public use, such as an auditorium and others that will be used for historical research, as the new center will complement the work done since the Municipal Archives and one of the objectives is the implementation of cultural projects that are not limited in the future to the city of Molina de Segura.

The museum project intended audience visiting these medieval remains around different themes that allow citizens closer to the origin of the city Hisn Mulina;

learn more about the techniques, materials and construction of the wall;

how was his discovery and excavation and recovery;

the relationship of Molina de Segura with King Alfonso X the Wise, and other general aspects of the Islamic world.
