The City of Molina de Segura and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations Interbarrios held a conference on Local Development and Citizen Participation on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April (18/04/2008)

The City of Molina de Segura and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations Interbarrios, along with Molina Citizen Movement and the Training School for Citizen Participation, organized a conference on Local Development and Citizen Participation entitled Towards a relational and participatory the Government of Molina de Segura, to be held on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April, in the auditorium of the College of Education Child Paseo Rosales.

The sessions were presented at a press conference today Friday 18 April, Councillor for Citizen Participation, Estrella Perez Zafra.

Is expected to participate in the conference all neighborhood associations, NGOs, citizen groups, centers of Women, Federation of Senior Clubs, Federation of Youth Associations, Training School for Citizen Participation, Red Cross, Caritas, regional houses, etc.

The workshop aims to train citizens for the relationship and participation and aims at promoting democratic processes and participatory experiences in the municipality.

The objectives proposed that coexistence, as well as the implementation of new Statutes for Citizen Participation, are:

That the local civic community regain prominence, and the residents of the municipality to become democratic subjects with greater decision-making.

Increased public awareness.

To do so, citizens should feel jointly responsible for the welfare of the municipality and guide their behavior toward the resolution of collective problems.

That the City get more information about the interests of their constituents in shaping public policy.

The emergence of new problems in the local area and the increasing complexity of issues and challenges that must now undertake the administration, makes it advisable to intense participatory process based on knowledge and operation of the Statute of Citizen Participation.

SATURDAY, April 26

10.00-10.30 am: Presentation and preliminary discussion.

10.45 to 11.00: 1 st Workshop: Citizen Participation.

Possibilities and Challenges.

11.00 to 11.45 am: Meeting and Assembly Equipment

12.15 to 14.00 hours: 2 nd Workshop: THE STATUS OF CITIZEN PARTICIPATION.

To internalize the Status dialog.

16.15 to 17.30: 3 rd Workshop: The Regulation for the development of the Statute of Citizen Participation.

18.00 to 18.45 hours: 4 º Workshop: Democracy and Popular Participation.

SUNDAY April 27

10.00 to 11.00: 5 th Workshop: A Citizen's Movement for Social Transformation.

Mechanisms for participation in local politics:

Lawsuits: A citizens organized, cohesive and united to local challenges.

Bids: Local Agenda 21 and the School of Education for Citizenship.

11.15 am to 12.00 pm: Meeting for dialogue, proposals and commitments.

12.00 to 13.00: CLOSING OF THE COURSE.

Reading of the agreements and commitments of the course.
