More than 7,000 students from schools in Molina de Segura have been involved in the Municipal Environmental Education Program Discover your environment during the academic year 2007/2008 (18/06/2008)

More than 7,000 students from 28 schools in Molina de Segura have been involved during the year 2007/08 in the Environmental Education Program Discover your environment, organized by the Environmental Education Service of the Department of Environment of the City molinense.

The Councillor for the Environment, Consuelo Rosauro Meseguer, has reported that "have been done on the 600 activities, developed by Environmental Educators Ecoespuña Company, Ltd., with the aim of raising awareness among young people respect and care the environment both in the city and nature.

Activities include: the completion of about 70 outlets with itineraries, tours and activities in facilities and natural environment, plus more than 500 lectures and workshops in the center. "

As pointed out by Consuelo Rosauro, "we had set the goal of going to increase year after year to participate in the program and we are getting there, getting a raise to 10% more students than last year."

This program, coordinated by the Environmental Education Service (SEA) has made this year the investment of 55,000 euros.

As newer activities and have been well received in block Discover Molina, it is noteworthy visits Campotéjar Treatment Plant, to study the growth of the city by taking photographs by the students, a journey through the past fossil Molina de Segura, the observation of migratory birds in the wetlands of Lakes Campotéjar with the use of binoculars, among others.

In the 10 major topics offered within the block Discover Molina, the most popular has been the water, with 25% of total activities of this block.

Followed with 15% each, issues such as responsible consumption and eco-Molina Nature and Biodiversity: Natural Areas.

In block Discover the Natural de Molina, this year dedicated to the Ecological Park Vicente Blanes, there have been indigenous forest plantations, with the participation of 400 children.

The third block Discover your Center / Green Schools, has worked with 6 schools environmentally interested in improving its center, to get more and more sustainable.

Participating schools were: CEIP The Siphon, CEIP Maestro Fco Martínez Bernal, Colegio Los Olivos, El Colegio Limonar College Colegio La Purisima and Paseo Rosales.

The program, offered to public schools, private and private, from kindergarten to high school, also involved other educational programs as Head Start Programmes Professional and Adult Education.

Have been used for the first time the Journal of Environmental Education Learning Discover Your Environment, published by the Department of Environment, which, after the experience of this course, it was decided to expand with new folders and worksheets.

Finally, the Councillor for Environment said "the interest and involvement of schools in Molina de Segura in environmental education, incorporating it into your project as one of its central pillars.
