Fifty-two books presented to the fifth edition of Setenil Award for Best Book of short stories published in Spain, organized by the city of Molina de Segura (09/07/2008)

Setenil Award for Best Book of short stories published in Spain, organized by the Culture Department of the City of Molina de Segura, is consolidated in this fifth edition as one of the most important of its kind.

Proof of this is the great acceptance by both publishers and authors, with 52 books submitted from all over the country.

Among the authors who are eligible for the prize V Setenil are some as well known as Quim Monzo, Enrique Vila-Matas, Antonio Pereira, Ricardo Menéndez Montero Glez or Salmon.

The award is endowed with 12,000 euros for the winning author as well as advertising failure in major national newspapers.

The first edition was awarded to Alberto Méndez for his book The Blind Sunflowers, the second to Juan Pedro Aparicio and white life, in the third to Cristina Fernández Cubas Kinship poor devil, and the fourth by Sergi Pamies If you eat a lemon without making faces.

Jurors were chaired respectively by Juan Manuel de Prada, Luis Mateo Díez, Luis Alberto de Cuenca and Ana Maria Matute.

This year the jury chaired by the writer José María Merino, recently appointed member of the Royal Academy.

The jury is expected to issue its ruling in early November.

The award will be presented in Molina de Segura in December 2008.
