The general director of Housing visit the start of construction of the Mirador del Castillo de Molina de Segura (05/01/2009)

The general director of Housing and Architecture, Mark Noguez, and Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras, today visited the refurbishment of public space Mirador del Castillo in the town molinense, which have a subsidy from the Ministry of Works Public and Regional Planning in excess of 300,000 euros.

This action is the result of one of the cooperation agreements between the autonomous regions and municipalities to maintain the investment for the preservation of historical heritage Murcia and its surroundings, and with which, in this case, improve the Castillo de Molina and around, acting also on the House of Maita.

El Mirador del Castillo is in the place occupied by the citadel of the castle, which overlooks the entire valley of the river Segura and the movement from the Valle de Ricote to Murcia when Molina was an important Roman site.

At that time the town was a Roman fort which later would become Arab, now defunct, on the ruins of which raises the Mirador del Castillo, "with which the Department seeks to recover rehabilitation one of the most important sites of the architectural heritage of the municipality" according to the director general said during his visit.

According Nogueroles, "action provides the remodeling of the green areas around the Mirador, which will be enhanced not only the architectural structure itself, but covering the whole with the surrounding gardens and the House of Maita" .

Public Works will restore the House of Maita, acquired in 2005 by the City and located in the historic Barrio del Castillo de Molina de Segura.

The objective of the Ministry is to highlight the most significant element of the Molina preserved medieval, and that within the current building is preserved part of the elevation of the Tower of Homage of the Almohad fortress and a cistern of the XVII-XVIII.

This completes the recovery that is experiencing the oldest neighborhood of Molina, which is rehabilitating the whole cultural spaces next to the Arab wall in the old factory Maximino Moreno, as well as the structure of the wall itself; two important actions for citizens residing in this county to see recovered two of its greatest architectural works.

In total, the regional government investment in this area will exceed one million euros, which, according to the director general is "a policy guideline that focuses on rehabilitation of regional architectural heritage, which in 2008 represented an investment by the Autonomous Community over eight million euros. "
