The first edition of the Molina, with other eyes, organized by the Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura, has resulted in the achievement of its objective to approach the nearest population to the environment, showing its biodiversity, its values natural, urban and cultural.
The turnout was more than 700 people, from associations or citizens who have joined individually to offer this new exciting activities that have been implicated in the enhancement and conservation of natural areas and improving the city .
Molina Program, with other eyes, whose slogan is Educating today for a more sustainable city, was launched in its first edition in 2008 from the Municipal Service Environmental Education (SEA), with two main blocks of activities: one hand, public outreach and environmental awareness related to the natural environment, urban and municipal campaigns, open to the entire population, and, moreover, information and environmental education for citizens' associations, to inform, raise awareness and enlist the people of Molina de Segura in environmental processes in connection with social, economic and cultural, both in the immediate environment as the rest of the planet.
As for the activities to the general population, participation in 10 activities was a total of 150 people of all ages.
More participatory activities have been observing and banding of birds in the lagoons of Campotéjar.
They have also been of great interest in a trip to the old ways of transhumance and fascinating journey and photographed natural sites in Molina de Segura.
Efforts to citizens' associations have had the participation of 600 citizens from 11 associations, which have made a total of 25 activities (lectures, visits and workshops).
The issues that have attracted the most interest are the problems of noise, knowledge of the streams and wetlands of Molina de Segura, the city's growth and reforestation of natural areas.
"One of the challenges we are facing policy makers is to establish a strong and effective as the necessary link between the municipal management and sustainable development of our locality, this being fundamental to social participation," said Councilmember Middle Environment, Consuelo Rosauro Meseguer.
In this sense, "from the Environmental Education Service of the City of Molina de Segura we continue investing in this program of Environmental Education and aimed at the Voluntary Sector and the general population of our town.
Following the philosophy of the draft Regional Strategy for Environmental Education and lines of work on our process of Local Agenda 21, this new program with new eyes MOLINA has helped to improve information and training to the sustainability of our municipality, convey values respect the environment and to involve citizens in Molina de Segura in environmental projects and programs of our City. "
