The enlargement of the Ciudad del Transporte de Molina de Segura involve an investment of one million euros (20/01/2009)

The Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras, presented the project to expand the current City Transport is located in the town, for which the regional government contributes 75 percent of one million euros to receive these facilities.

This investment is part of the autonomous government policy to encourage freight transport, a sector with important influence in the regional economy.

The project, funded by the Ministry through the Directorate General for Transport and Ports, will the enlargement of the surface of the center square in 16,727 meters, an increase in the number of parking spaces for trucks up to 150, and creating a training center for professionals.

All within the line of improvement experienced by the center in recent years, strategically located close to the polygon Serreta next to the A-30 motorway in Madrid.

The new training center will be devoted to promoting the quality of service provided by professionals and, with an area of 600 square meters, will allow drivers of the region to implement approved practices in areas specifically authorized to do so, on a plot adjacent to existing facilities.

During the ceremony the Minister said that "with the growth of facilities that will allow this cash injection, the regional government manages the City's Transportation remains a point of reference for a sector that depend on more than 16,000 transportation professionals throughout the Community ", after which he reiterated the support of the Ministry to this professional group.

A weight sector

In addition to the Ciudad del Transporte, there are other centers in the region for the transport and logistics in Caravaca, Cartagena, Cehegín, Jumilla, Lorca, Murcia, Torre Pacheco Puerto Lumbreras, making up the network infrastructure to the Ministry, through of its aid program of the Directorate General for Transport and Ports, to serve more than 8,500 companies engaged in freight transport and logistics in the region.

According to Crossbow, the policy of encouraging and supporting the transport sector responds "to the special importance to it for the economic development of the Region of Murcia, as it is the basic support of almost 93 percent of the movement of goods the Community ", which assessed as a percentage well above the average for countries belonging to the European Union.
