About 50 people participate in the activity organized by the Department of Environment to commemorate the 150 anniversary of the fall of the meteorite in Molina de Segura (28/01/2009)

About 50 people attended on Sunday January 25 while visiting the Nature Classroom Alto de El Landing, to learn playing the largest meteorite fall in Spain, as well as a journey through different points of geological interest in Molina de Segura, activities organized by the Department of Environment of the City molinense.

Participants learned about the reproduction of the largest meteorite fall in Spain and the approximate location of his death in 1858.

The visit also included exposure Molina's history through fossils, found in the Hall of Nature's Landing High.

The activity began with a visit to the approximate point of the fall of the meteorite in the spot of The Homer.

On the way to the landing stops were made to find points of geological interest and scenic as the Sierra de la Espada, the Rambla del Chorro / Carrizalejo and Mirador Place.

And on the landing could learn playing the meteorite Molina de Segura, who is in the Hall of Nature and fossil exhibition hosted by the classroom.

From there he made a journey to the place called La Poza and fossilized coral reef.

The group, composed of people of all ages, came attracted by a very singular, but also by the growing public interest in their surroundings.

The activity allowed them to come to this event and thus value the importance of meteorites to the knowledge of the nature of our origin and the impact that such a phenomenon has on the environment.

It was also a unique opportunity to meet and places of interest within the municipality.

The Councillor for the Environment, Consuelo Rosauro Meseguer, highlights "the growing interest of the public for their natural environment and thanked everyone for their participation in this activity.

I take this opportunity to encourage them to continue to discover our natural wealth, through program activities Molina, with different eyes, of the Department of Environment, to be held the last Saturday of every month. "
