PERSEUS Program ]|... by Dr. Javier Aranceta, to be held on Wednesday 25 March |

Medical Research Foundation of Molina de Segura (FEM) presented at a press conference today, Wednesday 18 March, the next conference of scientific (the 37th), to be held in Molina de Segura (College auditorium Child Education Paseo Rosales) on Wednesday March 25, 2009, at 20.00, with free entry, entitled Prevention of childhood obesity.

PERSEUS Program, headed by Doctor Javier Aranceta Bartrina, President of the Spanish Society of Community Nutrition Program Coordinator PERSEO (NAOS Strategy, Ministry of Health).

The conference is organized by the WEF, the city of Molina de Segura, Murcia Society of Family and Community Medicine (SMUMFYC) and the Hospital de Molina, sponsored by the Caixa Eroski.

The presentation was made by Francisco Guirado Sánchez, Director of the CEO and Director of the Hospital de Molina, Josefina García Lozano, Secretary of the EMF and Health Center Coordinator Jesús Marín López de Molina de Segura, Juan Francisco Menéndez Puche.

The conference will be the opening ceremony of the XVI Regional Congress of Family and Community Medicine, which will host Molina de Segura 25, 26 and 27 March under the slogan Doctors and citizens together in the center and the Las Balsas College Child Education Paseo Rosales.

Javier Aranceta Bartrina is a specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Doctor of Medicine and Surgery, University of the Basque Country (UPV), Certificate of Specialization (CES) in Dietetics and Nutrition, University of Nancy (France), Diploma in Nutrition the Universities of Madrid, Granada and Barcelona, Doctor in Nutrition (PhD), University of Perugia (Italy) and Master in Public Health from the UPV.

It is currently developing his professional work as Director of the Community Nutrition Unit of the Subarea of Public Health of the City of Bilbao and Associate Professor of Public Health and Community Nutrition Unit of Dietetics and Human Nutrition at the University of Navarra.

Is lecturer at the Department of Pediatrics at the University of the Basque Country (Teaching Unit of the Hospital de Basurto) and Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health).

It is also coordinator of the Epidemiology Work Group of the NAOS Strategy (Nutrition, Obesity and Physical Activity) of the Ministry of Health.

Published as editor and / or author 20 books, over 60 book chapters and numerous articles in national and international scientific journals.

9 doctoral thesis has addressed issues related to nutritional epidemiology.
