Yerma is a timeless works of the great writer Federico García Lorca.

But the element that updates to this modern Yerma, presented by Teatro Avante, is passion, love dissatisfaction, the pursuit of impossible dreams of concrete faced with a society that stops under trial and unacceptability of a reality that, at that time and time, just silenced.

Yerma passion whips, shakes and drag.

The reality is far from friendly, so the regret is constant in this Yerma sensual and explosive, you are looking for different ways to satisfy their thirst for passion and freedom, that he sees but never achieved.

Characterized this staging the multiple levels on which the basic situation is projected: art, music, scenery and costumes combine with the word.

The figures decked in elaborate costumes, headdresses features that fuse Asian, Arab, Andalusian and other cultures, where they meet with crucifix necklaces, fans, canes and bells, are a valuable contribution to the show.

Plasticity while the force imposed on their movements Yerma, starring the excellent Venezuelan actress Jacqueline Briceño, contrasts with balance and restraint of her friend Mary (Rocío Carmona), the role of confidant, achieving the harmony needed in the dramatic theater.

Julio Rodriguez represents Juan, Jorge Alvarez plays Victor and Gerardo Riverón complete the cast playing the old pagan.

Héctor Agüero is in charge of music, and most folk choose a different cultures, without neglecting the flamenco and Mexican ranchera.

The scenery and costumes are by Jorge Noa and Pedro Balmaceda, and lighting design is by Mario Ernesto Sánchez.

Yerma is not only the drama of the infertile woman in a hard and rough ground.

It is also the drama of repression, lack of love and true communication, or simply the desire: to bear fruit and gives rise to life.

Heir to a tradition that goes back to the ancient rituals of fertility and fertilization, Lorca's work is susceptible to differing looks from the outside look, social character (their conduct to the conventions) that tells the transgression, crime , to an exploration of the inner world, the imaginary secret, submerged, a woman who, like Oscar Wilde's poem, kill what he loves.

The emphasis of the version and would not be staged only in the barren condition of the character (the story known), but in exploring the underwater world captured in the imagination of a woman who dreams and hallucinations further (or closer) the limits of their condition.

From this point of view, Women / Mother / Earth, analogy in which the text is based, does not accept or recognize only their reproductive status, but also, and essentially, the universe of your dreams, fantasies and delusions.
