Work on the new headquarters of the Local Police in La Molina de Segura Alcayna began today with the laying of the cornerstone by the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, and the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Eduardo Contreras.

The new infrastructure will mainly cover the residential areas of the municipality (Altorreal, La Alcayna, Rabbits, Los Olivos, El Chorrico ...) and Molina field, where the population increase in recent years is very significant and currently reaches This is more than 10,000 inhabitants.

To perform this action, which will be operational by 2010, the Autonomous Region signed late last year an agreement with the Consistory, by which the cited work funded with 700,000 euros, while the City contributes the remaining 300,000 overall project budget.

The building will have a total area of 1,432 square meters on three floors.

The basement will have parking, and on the ground floor will be located on police premises (shooting gallery, changing rooms, offices, etc.), And other municipal services.

In a second stage, will fit the rest of the building for other municipal uses.

The minister highlighted the importance of Molina de Segura has a second local police station to "get a police service to provide more equitable and better distributed geographically."

Reverte said the regional government "is making an effort in infrastructure, staffing and training for our local police to become more competitive, will be better qualified and better equipped technically, with the aim of providing quality service to citizens."

He indicated that the Regional Public Safety Plan has allowed the incorporation of 30 new officers to the local police staff of Molina de Segura, the total of 628 planned for the whole region, carrying out their duties with the Special Security Units.

In addition to the city of Molina de Segura, the Presidential and Public Administration has awarded several grants to fund this type of infrastructure to the municipalities of Murcia, Fuente Alamo, Sewer, Alguazas, Beniel, Cieza, Moratalla, Yecla, Alhama de Murcia, Abarán, Cartagena, Lorca, Totana, Puerto Lumbreras, Cehegín, Cotillas Towers and La Union.
