The First Contest for Best Taster OLEOCATA Virgin Olive Oil in the Region of Murcia, organized by the Official Tasting Panel of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Opening of the City of Molina de Segura, the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia and the Center of Competence Tourism Murcia, will take place on Thursday 25 June at the Integrated Center of Training and Experience Agriculture, CIFE, Molina de Segura (at Avenida Gutierrez Mellado, n º 17) .
The activity has been presented at a press conference today Friday 12 June, Councillor for Industry and openings, Consuelo Rosauro Meseguer, the Chief Official Tasting Panel olive oil of Murcia, Carmen Teruel, and the responsible Commission Contest organizer OIL TASTING / Regional Semifinal, Inmaculada López.
This is an unprecedented event, as the taste of virgin olive oils is a little known but that activity is carried by more than 10 years in the Region of Murcia from the hand of Official Tasting Panel of Murcia.
This competition aims to give value to this activity and reward sensitivity and professionalism of the assessors in our region.
This event is framed in the contest for the best taster OLEOCATA national to be held in Jaén in September and there will be a large representation Murcia led the winners in the regional semifinal.
There will be three regional awards, which consist of a trophy.
The second prize is sponsored by the city of Molina de Segura.
On this first occasion they will make 4 semifinals: Jaén, Castilla La Mancha, Murcia and La Rioja.
The semifinals will consist of a series of sensory tests designed to test the capabilities of each candidate.
These tests will associated with it scores.
The valuation of the same will be done by the jury and the organizers of the competition.
The top 10 finishers in each semifinal will qualify for the final, to be held at the National Parador Castillo de Jaén on 26 September.
The three contestants who get the highest score will win the final and, therefore, those who receive the prizes:
1 Place: Oil Tasting Award 2009 (trophy and cash prize of 4,000 euros)
2 Place: 2 nd Runner Oil Tasting 2009 (trophy and prize of 1,000 euros)
3 Place: 3 rd Runner Oil Tasting 2009 (trophy and a lot of products)
Will also receive an Honorary Award Oil Tasting, which will be given at the discretion of the jury, among the various proposals, a person with a recognized career path within the sector.
