The act of laying the first stone of the new Day Centre for People with Chronic Mental Illness, sponsored by the Association of Relatives and Mentally Ill of Molina de Segura (AFESMO), took place on Wednesday 14 October, with the assistance of the Mayor local, Eduardo Contreras Linares, the Social Policy Adviser, Women and Migration in the Region of Murcia, Joaquín García Bascuñana the President of AFESMO, Delia Topham Reguera, and the Councillor for Social Welfare, Worship Molina López.
The new Day Centre will be built on a plot of 3,213 m2 municipal, molinense given by the City Council and located in Calle Pablo Neruda.
The budget of the work amounts to EUR 1,436,573.18, and executed by the Steel Framing Company, Ltd., with a lead time of 18 months.
The total area of 2282.56 m2 will be built, distributed in different buildings, elevations around the sports ground, and a covered area.
The main building will consist of three storeys, to be distributed: garage, room facilities, two warehouses, eight offices, industrial kitchen, dining room, pantry, cold storage, eight multipurpose rooms to develop activities and workshops of the Day Centre ; four offices equipped to carry out the individualized attention, three rooms for group care, five toilets and two files.
In the second block is located the locker room.
Finally, there shall be a covered area without walls, whose function is to perform some of the group therapies, body, outdoors.
This project aims to efficiently serve 100 seats in center, with which cover the most immediate basic needs of the group of people with chronic mental illness AFESMO attending to work its stabilization and / or recovery through services offered by the association, including workshops, individual and group therapy, dining, transportation, etc.
AFESMO is an association created in 1997 with the dual aim of pursuing psychosocial rehabilitation and employment of people with mental illness, and support their families in the area of Molina de Segura and the Vega Media.
With this objective, was launched, and year after year, his work reaches more and more people, gradually taking a greater number of cases.
However, despite their great capacity for work, material resources and facilities which currently have been overwhelmed by the number of users, having a small space to serve a growing group.
This has prompted the construction of a new Day Centre
