The City of Molina de Segura installed the first biomass boiler for a municipal pool in the Region of Murcia (06/11/2009)

The City of Molina de Segura, through an agreement with the company Sercom Services, has given the Municipal Parking Deck The Romeral an advanced and environmentally friendly system of heat utilization of biomass for production of Hot Water, Heating and Air Conditioning .

This is a pioneering experience in the Region of Murcia, for which it has had a business of renewable energy projects with more solvent and experience of the Region, Zero Degrees South.

The new facilities have been visited on Friday, 6 November, the mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, Managing Director of the company Zero Degrees South, Francisco Alcaraz, the manager of the utility Sercom, Juan Romero, the Councilman Sports, Jesus Maeso Monge, and Alderman for the Environment, José Antonio Carbonell Contreras.

The new system covers the energy needs of the municipal swimming pool by replacing the habitual consumption of fossil fuels by biomass through a boiler Froling Turbomatic latest model of 110 kw.

It is, as a widely recognized among industry professionals, the best biomass boiler in the world and has been brought to Molina de Segura directly from Austria, where the brand makes a successful model for over 30 years.

The benefit to this system is twofold.

On the one hand, the use of biomass as fuel results in an economic saving, because its cost is much lower than conventional sources of energy.

On the other hand, helps prevent the increase in carbon dioxide emissions because the CO2 that emerges from the combustion of this waste is none other than the one used by the same living being to form and grow.

Plants, photosynthesis, necessary for growth, they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere and set in your body that carbon dioxide content.

When there is biomass burning, carbon is the same which is recombined with oxygen, resulting again in CO2.

Thus, by closing a full cycle, the CO2 balance is neutral.

€ 60,000 investment will recover in three years with the energy saving benefits and subsidies of the Autonomous Community.

From the environmental point of view, the production of heat in the hydraulic circuit of the boiler will prevent an annual increase of 42 tonnes of CO2 in the atmosphere, an increase that would occur to continue to generate this energy by conventional means.

This figure to illustrate graphically, it is an amount of carbon dioxide they emit similar to 3,000 cars a week to make every-day roundtrip itinerary from Molina de Segura in Murcia.
