Students of three schools built cribs Molina de Segura recycled materials (17/12/2009)

School students Vega del Segura, Los Olivos and the Molina de Segura Siphon have built Christmas nativity original using different types of waste.

This activity is part of its Action Plan Agenda 21 for Schools, this course is to focus awareness and proper management of waste.

One of the goals they have set is to reduce waste production and promote a culture of reuse and recycling.

Councillor for the Environment of the City of Molina de Segura, José Antonio Carbonell Contreras, will visit the student work on Friday, 18 December, from 10.00 (first in the Public School Vega del Segura de La Ribera Molina, followed by charter schools and Los Olivos, finally, the CP The Trap).

Students have discovered the potential for reuse of materials, while developing other skills and abilities and participate in a holiday tradition like the cribs.

In the CP Vega del Segura all school pupils from kindergarten to Primary 6, participated in the development of Bethlehem, an example of the involvement of the whole school in a common project and the opportunity for all students protagonists feel.

Another outstanding performance in its action plan is an activity of making toys from recycled materials planned for the next quarter.

In the Colegio Los Olivos were the students from kindergarten who have all kinds of materials reused in the development of his nativity: cocoa cans, biscuit boxes, yogurt containers, toilet paper, walnut shells, newsprint, cork and foil.

This activity is part of a series of initiatives aimed at students, since those as young, know the importance of responsible use of resources.

The use of recycled materials as a resource for decoration is a practice that is customary in the center several years ago as a way to encourage students to practice environmentally friendly.

The Department of Environment has thanked and acknowledged the important role that schools develop by raising awareness of the entire school community about the importance of changing attitudes to reduce the major environmental problem posed by the waste generated and the effort to make a proper management of waste generated by the center.

All this through the implementation of Agenda 21 for Schools, and a plan of action that promotes the reduction of waste production through appropriate consumption patterns, the reuse of materials through initiatives such as the construction of these cribs and proper separation of waste for recycling later.

The project Agenda 21 for Schools / Green Schools, included in the Environmental Education Program Discover your environment, is a commitment to incorporate sustainability values in the educational project and a bid to get the proper environmental management of the center, all at through the participation of the entire educational community.

The three centers Green Schools accreditation achieved 2009, issued by the Department of Environment last June, and its inclusion in the Green Schools Network / Centre for Ecology Education.
