The book The Catholic Kings in the Alhambra, Juan Antonio Vilar Sanchez Wins International Award for Research I historian Luisa Isabel Álvarez de Toledo (17/12/2009)

The jury of the First International Research Prize historian Luisa Isabel Álvarez de Toledo, convened by the city of Molina de Segura, has been declared the winner of both the test mode as Best Film Editing, the book The Catholic Kings in the Alhambra, Juan Antonio Vilar Sánchez, co-published by the Patronato de la Alhambra and Generalife and Editorial Comares.

10,000 euros, the purpose of this award is to encourage studies on the history of Spain that have the fundamental base documentary and archival sources.

Directed published books, the prize acknowledges both the research work as one's own edition of the works.

His character is biennial.

The name of the Prize recognizes Luisa Isabel Álvarez de Toledo y Maura, Duchess of Medina Sidonia xxi, xviii Marquesa de los Vélez, etc., who dedicated his life to the preservation and dissemination of historical and artistic heritage and legacy of archival fonds ancestors.

In his file is preserved historical documents of various noble houses, including that of Vélez.

His wish was always to make those funds available to researchers and historians to ensure that the company relied on his legacy.

This work collaboration and dissemination was particularly close with the city of Molina de Segura, with which it established agreements to enable the study and digitization of documents relating to the city preserved in the ducal file.

The jury is headed in this first edition by Maria Josefa Sanz Fuentes, Professor of Science and Technology Historiography at the University of Oviedo and the members are: Guillaume Araceli Alonso, Professor of Modern History at the University of La Sorbonne in Paris, Francisco Veas Arteseros, Professor of Medieval History at the University of Murcia, and Juan Hernández Franco, Professor of Modern History at the University of Murcia.

Award is expected to be delivered next February 2010.
