The Department of Environment of Molina de Segura presents the Guide to Flora Ecology Park Vicente Blanes (26/03/2010)

The City of Molina de Segura, through the Department of Environment, has developed the Guide to Flora Ecology Park Vicente Blanes, with a catalog of the 60 plants representing himself.

The paper was presented at a press conference today Friday 26 March, the Councillor for the Environment, Consuelo Rosauro Meseguer.

The Guide to Flora arises from an initial study conducted in 2000 by two academics, which lists 51 species of forest plants in the park, and a subsequent review of that study, conducted in 2007 by the company Ecoespuña under Biologist address municipal Mondéjar Carmen Gil, resulting in a list of 200 taxa in the 42 hectares that has the Vicente Blanes.

According to the Councillor, "of all, we wanted to present a total of 60 plant species, 30% of the total, either by their location, distribution, rarity or simply because of their abundance, we think that will be announced on Ecological Park at over two hundred thousand visitors annually, the associations of residents in this town, and over two thousand students each year participate in activities that develop in this natural area. The botanical study contributes to advancing the proper management and conservation of the Park, and will establish management plans and programs and improvement of plants that have legal protection, and are included in Decree 50/2003 on the Protection of Wild Flora Region of Murcia.

The 200 taxa inventoried highlight the rich biodiversity of the park, taking into account the relatively small size, in natural terms, of this natural area, compared to the Regional Park of the Sierra de la Pila or the Valley.

The Councillor for the Environment, Consuelo Rosauro, explained that "the filing of this Guide to Flora is one more chance we have to advance knowledge Vicente Blanes Park, a natural landmark for Molina de Segura.

The contents of this Guide focuses on Flora plants representative of the Park Vicente Blanes, which are vital to protect the biodiversity of the municipality.

And is divided into a first introductory paragraph on the Ecological Park, an enclave surrounded by nature, and its location, near the Regional Park of the Sierra de la Pila.

A section on the physical environment of the Park with the factors that influence the development of vegetation.

Also associated habitats where both plants and animals, locate food, breed and breed, and even die.

The conservation of these benefits for biodiversity and the protection of fauna and flora.

In the Ecological Park Vicente Blanes have found 5 types of natural habitats of Community interest, following Directive 92/43/EC on the conservation of natural habitats and wildlife:

Gypsophilous Iberian vegetation.

Habitat 1520, with soils rich in gypsum.

2.

Arborescentres bushes of Juniperus spp.

Habitat 5210, with species such as mastic, January, black hawthorn and ephedra.

3.

Thermo and pre steppe.

Habitat 5330, with scrub own dry climates such as ALBA, cat tail or Helianthemum Jarrilla.

4.

Subestépicas areas of annual grasses and Thero / Brachypodietea.

6220 habitats, such as esparto, lastonares or albardinales.

5.

Thermo riparian galleries and thickets.

92D0 habitat.

Appears in small areas with the presence ramblizos Baladres or oleanders.

Another section of the Guide is a Fauna linked to vegetation.

Some animal species are listed in the Red Book of vertebrates in the region of Murcia.

And finally, a section devoted to the flora in the PE Vicente Blanes, with about 200 species that enrich the biodiversity of the landscape plants.

For the management of this guide has tried to avoid the botanical terminology chosen and each species has developed a fact sheet with the following information: common name, scientific name, family name, description of freight, leaves, flowers and fruits, their ecology and optimal environment where it appears, their abundance and location of such threats in the park, conservation measures, protection status and, finally, curiosities, customs and traditions.

1,000 copies have been printed on 100% recycled paper with 99 pages in full color, spiral bound with wire to encourage their use.
